A review of Pounced.org

The site advertises itself as:

Welcome to pounced.org the place to meet other furries.
If your looking to find a meet a mate or find a friend, you’ve come to the right place.

I wish I could say I found one there when I was a member, but reality is quite different as they always say. Given the average post and by the way over 90% are single men looking for a mate, and btw most of them are gay. But if you’re straight like me and are looking for a friend you’re just out of luck, I let both my post and membership lapse simply because no one wanted to respond to any of the emails I sent out, and by the way it was just wanting to look for a new friend and that’s it. Also I want to make this very clear no one emailed me period.

Frankly I have had better luck on normal pen pal sites than I ever did at Pounced.org unless you’re a woman looking, stay away from pounced

Furring the Edges of Reality

It’s not normally a good idea to leap in front of a speeding car during the dark of night, and if you realise that momentarily after you have just done so, it’s equally not a good idea to stay in the path of the car and try to outrun it. But rabbits, often badgers, and no doubt in lands where such wildlife is commonplace, raccoons do the same. Thinking like an animal, in certain situations, can be very dangerous, and sometimes can hardly be considered as thinking at all.

But in other situations, a different way of thinking can be more effective than the first solution that springs to the human mind. Of course, asking “what would Don Draper do?” and attempting to solve a problem in the style of a hero is not a new idea. Yiffy role-playing is all about thinking as your character, and acting in a different way from how you would behave in reality. The natural progression is combination of these two ideas, to tackle difficult or troubling situations in reality by asking how your role-play character would see the situation, or taking it a step further from that, and setting yourself in-character for the duration, or a portion, of the troubled time.

In a job interview, for example, when the nervousness creeps in, and the fingernails beg to be bitten, slipping into a character that would handle the questions with more confidence and lingual finesse is likely to be a comfort, to lighten the situation, and perhaps even make it an enjoyable experience. Of course, it’s best to keep the largest part of it in your own mind, glomps and yiffs may not go down too well should you choose to take on the persona of a role-play character as a way of dealing with being arrested.

In very extreme situations, the brain will automatically split-off a new personality. This is known as schizophrenia. Though it’s unlikely, almost impossible, that schizophrenia could arise as a side effect of thinking in the mind of a role-play character, it’s sadly likely that others, if allowed to see it, could misinterpret it as a loss in sanity.

Use it wisely, though, don’t leap out in front of speeding cars,
and furring the edges of reality might just make it more bearable.

My first article

Welcome to my first series of articles on… I had plenty of topics to choose from the increasing suicide rate, the Conflicker C virus, so I decided to do my first article on what everyone is doing these days…

Living on the cheap.

I know with some of you, it began with a cut in pay, or perhaps you lost your job. But anyway, we are all in the same boat, trying to get what we can for as little as we can.

Lets start on what most of us spend most of our cash on FOOD. It does not involve eating Mac and Cheese 7 times a week either. I would suggest you check out the cheaper food stores such as Aldi, Food 4 Less, Save A Lot and others. You can save as much as 30% by just changing stores, then there are those local fruit markets you sometimes see ads for. I get most of my meat and fruit at those types of stores. What if I told you on average you can get meat and fruit for sometimes as much as half at what you pay in the local grocery store chains…sometimes even cheaper.

Then there is what do you cut out, the main topic on the local news is insurance. Car insurance is a must, but liability is the cheapest. Car Repairs, try those auto repair schools, the big secret with them is they are always looking for cars for their students to repair and all you pay for is parts. Unlike most garages, the work is certified by the teachers with more experiance than any auto body shop. Health, as in medical can be taken care of by if in your area county. Most if not all have a sliding scale of payments. Entertainment, at least in my city they have these movies they pay in most area parks at night and best of all they are FREE. Pick the right film and the right night it too can lead to a perfect night of romance. I would also suggest a picnic with that foodnetwork.com has some easy recipes. One word of advice, becareful of food poisoning. Foam ice chests are the cheapest, if you can’t afford a anything more. No alcohal please, you can get arrested, as all parks alcohal in illegal. Also check out your local library at least where I live our library homepage has tons of stuff completely for free. Books, movies, short films, speaking of films check out archive.org you will not believe what films and other stuff you will find there…all of which is FREE.

One last thing wireless service I can reccomend one that is cheaper than any one else that is Cricket Wireless mycricket.com they have plans which by the way include unlimited mintues starting at just $30

Yiffy Times getting started
