Last night Cartoon Network gave us a preview of Scooby Doo Mystery Inc that will be airing sometime this Summer. The general idea behind this series is bringing Scooby Doo and the gang back to it’s roots, back to when they were all still in High School and still living with their parents. For the 1st time since A Pup Named Scooby-Doo we in deed to see the entire gang’s parents and what some of them do for a living. For example Fred’s father is the Mayor of Crystal Cove where the series is set. While Velma’s parents run a museum dedicated to the mysteries in and around Crystal Cove. But this series is far more than just rehashing mysteries that even our parents could resit from memory.
It in fact makes it’s own mark in the history of Scooby-Doo. For example it is revealed that Velma and Shaggy are in love, and that Shaggy does not reveal the fact to Scooby-Doo, and that Fred is trap obsessed (who did not know that). But the biggest difference with this series than any other that came before is that both the Sheriff and the gangs parents want them not to investigate any mystery. In fact the Sheriff seems obsessed that these mysteries will make money for the town, despite what motive the one that created it has behind it.
I on purpose left out the details of the pilot as I did not want to spoil anything, save this. While finding clues to the ID of the villain in the 1st episode they discover a pendant, which holds the very 1st clue to the Curse of Crystal Cove, and that the lives of the gang are threatened because of this discovery.
I have to give Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc a 10/10 the mystery is fantastic, the writing is excellent and the acting first rate. I say if your either a fan of Scooby-Doo like me, or a fan of mysteries in general or both. Do yourself a favor give Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc a chance and you will become hooked on one fantastic series!!!!!
