Social Media and getting a job
As much as we all think it’s an infringement on privacy more and more companies are asking for your social media passwords, so they can really see what kind of person they are thinking about hiring.
Even though as laws preventing this are working their way through state legislators. So far none of these proposed laws have even come up for a vote, or let alone arrived on the desk of any governor.
I echo what others have said. Do not even tell any company that you put an application for a job that you even have a Facebook or Twitter account. That you don’t believe in social media.
If you think that simply isn’t going to happen. I go on record to suggest this. Set up an account just for future employers to see. One showing your a clean and sober employee, one who loves their parents and are kind to animals.

The Day Rod Blagojevich Went to Prison
Yesterday former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich left his home for prison, where he will serve up to 14 years in federal prison. Which should of meant a blurp on the local news. But you believe what those who live in Chicago actually got instead.
Live coverage starting as early as 4AM standing outside the home of Rod Blagojevich. Which finally ended at 1 PM when he entered Federal Prison. During the all that time they constantly tracked his movements with cameras at the ready. To and from both airports, every move that the former governor made.
In my opinion it was the biggest non news story of the decade. It was a pain to watch, and an equal pain finding something else to watch during all that time.

Encyclopedia Britannica end of an Era
Encyclopaedia Britannica Inc. announced Tuesday it will stop publishing print editions of its signature product for the first time in its 244-year history. In an acknowledgment of the shifting media landscape and the increasing reliance on digital references, the company said its current encyclopedia – the 32-volume, 129-pound 2010 edition – will be unavailable once the existing stock runs out. (If you’re interested, it’s yours for $1,395 and there are only 4,000 sets left.) The digital version of the encyclopedia, however, will live on.
