Reporting on Fur Cons

It’s really hard for a say a guy like me to decide to go to their very 1st fur con or not. It’s really of the unknown that gets us, I know those of you have been could be laughing about it. But it’s true, and any search for reports aren’t really going to help you as in they are super short ‘It’s fun’. To a long essay post on what they were excited about the most. Which sadly is only of interest to them.

I say the Fur Cons themselves really don’t help out, for one example at the one I am going to Midwest Fur Fest they are planning on doing a panel discussion on the first day, where 1st timers could ask questions. I say that panel is useless the same thing could be replaced by a pamphlet with a map. Get some actual first timers on the last day and get them to talk about their experiences that would be something.

What is to me personally is that I have been asked by several people on the furry forums (I am currently active) to tell them what it is really like. They want to know everything, even the cost of the food…after all where I am going there are no close restaurants. I have to eat there…period.

In my opinion this maybe the only honest reporting of what it is like at a fur con ever.

Now for my skeptics, use your favorite search engine and look for yourself…and see if I am not telling the truth. If you find one that is fair and balanced and not spam I will allow the comment.

Yiffy Times goes to Midwest Fur Fest

You read right I am going to Midwest Fur Fest this November. Then that following week will be dedicated to my experiences there, along with photos. Which I hope will be of interest to you my readers especially this will be my very first fur con ever, and frankly I have very little idea of what one is like. It’s not like I don’t know what is actually going to be there, that is all over MFF site. But everything else like the people, how much promotion goes on, to the food, even how easy is it to make friends there. That I will get in to and even more. If I can I am going to crown my own best fursuit at MFF.

Keep an eye out the last week of November.

Zootopia

Zootopia is the next big Disney animated film. Which so far looks pretty good.

So what is Zootopia. It’s a comedic adventure film follows Nick Wilde, a fast-talking fox who’s trying to make it big, who goes on the run when he’s framed for a crime he didn’t commit. Zootopia’s top cop, the self-righteous rabbit Lt. Judy Hopps, is hot on his tail, but when both become targets of a conspiracy, they’re forced to team up and discover even natural enemies can become best friends.

Furries and Star Trek

I know when it comes to both ‘Furries’ and Furry Like creatures Star Trek is the last thing you’ll ever think about. With all the aliens they ever produced not one on the original series all the way up to the latest film you will not see a single one.

But on the other hand the animated series which ran from September 8, 1973 – October 12, 1974 with a total of 22 episodes is quite a different matter. Take Lt. M’Ress the communications Officer although most guides lists her species as Caitian, she is clearly a female lioness although I do admit there are some differences such as her hair/mane. The same could be said for any of the ‘Furry’ like creatures found on the series. Take the Kziniti from The Slaver Weapon who appear very cat like, like a mixture between lion and say cougar. Then there is the Vedala said to be the oldest space faring species in the entire galaxy, also quite cat like. Also an unnamed reptilian race in the episode BEM. Also there is the Ursinoid from Mudd’s Passion, most guides list them as half bear/ half ape.

If you want to check out the series, surprisingly it’s quite easy just head to Star Trek.com and check out the series there on one of it’s video channels.

Posted below are thumbnails of the species I have been talking about.
