You Tube Surprise – At Least it was to me

If you follow my posts and video links on a regular basis you know I am pretty excited about this fursuiting channel on You Tube called A Fursuiters World. Which is hosted by the fursuiting couple out of Washington state. On Feb 12, 2014 for their own reason they not only took their channel down, but their Google + page as well. No reason was given why only a vague promise on their Twitter page that they might come back. Additional they also even took down every single video they posted to their regular You Tube accounts. Including that great fursuit version of Jingle Bell Rock. Wish I now made a copy of…

The Biggest Secret about Furry Bowling

In short I was at my weekly furmeet last night and I asked about the Furry Bowling event this same group runs in a nearby suburb. You see I don’t bowl, and never been to a Bowling Alley in my entire life if that is hard to believe. Then I found out something I thought I pass along to you my readers.

It seems Furry Bowling is more a social event rather than Bowling. Some fursuiters bowl but the rest just get to know each other better. Some secret isn’t it.

Volunteering

Sometimes when you want to volunteer at some place you have to go through a lot of effort to do some good. Take what happened to me recently. I was advised that it would help me if I volunteered somewhere. First up, like getting a job the first place you apply you may not be accepted. I was pretty I only put in 2 applications and got accepted by the 2nd place only because they are so desperate for volunteers. But what I had to do, is in one word ridiculous.

So where did I wind up at the local VA hospital. I know I am not the only one who doesn’t like the US being the world police force. But I have no problem with it’s veterans, some of which are left in pretty bad shape health wise after their military experience.

So what did I have to do, I had to finger printed the day I put my application in. Once my background check came through, they finally called me in for orientation. There you are told no pictures please, and keep your mouth shut about a veterans medical condition. You also have to choose what you like to do. I say the VA is pretty good about that, there is a wide variety of jobs volunteers can do from being a driver all the way down to transferring patients from their rooms to where they have to go in the hospital. Even working in their Hospice, which up to then I never knew existed. But it makes sense.

But before you can start work you have to take a TB test. But once that is done, they give you an interview on the spot and everything is arranged. You even get your volunteers smock, with your ID tag.

So what did I decide I was going to do, get vets to sign up for a govt health site. Not the one you heard about, this one allows them access to their medical info. From what they showed me it’s a great site.

Will let you know how things turn out.
