Win XP to 7 in One Week

As you might of read last week I had a computer issue, to what exactly happened my old Win XP laptop took a nose dive last Tuesday when it’s motherboard suddenly died. I was damn lucky that the hard drive wasn’t effected and was able to get my files back. Tells you how important backing up your files can be, Which left me no choice in having to finally make the leap to the current generation of PCs.

So why did I waited, to be honest there is more reasons than I could name why I didn’t upgrade than even I like to admit. But I guess I found myself in the same boat so to speak as many companies now find themselves in when Microsoft announced they were no longer supporting XP. When my old laptop died, I had no choice but to upgrade. I choose Win 7 as that was easier for me to handle than Win 8 and that Metro interface, I now find myself on the side who really don’t like it. Why, because I an mot use to it, that’s why. Although Win 7 is a long way from good old XP, I find myself in having to learn how Win 7 actually works for me. So far it’s more trial than error. The biggest hurdle I had to face is who both differ in the way you move files around. Win XP was more direct, 7 is drag and drop. As dumb as it sounds that was the hardest for me to learn. But as time goes by I am getting more and more use to my very fast PC. You would not believe the difference in the time it takes web pages to load. Keep in mind I never changed my broadband speed, everything is so much faster and I don’t have problems with bigger files any more.

In fact the old downside to this whole business is one I think you already know, Recovery Discs that Windows forces you to make from time to time. 3 hours + and 4 DVDs. I plan on getting a stack of them before the next time when I actually had to run out to the store as I ran out during the backup. I now know better,
