Furries and their Parents

When I first decided I was going to do an article on this, I thought it would be short and sweet especially after reading up on how some actual parents are more in to the fandom than there children are. Which really should be surprising, after all the Furry Fandom is old enough to where some of it’s original fans would have kids in their late teens to early 20s.

I have read and heard such marvelous stories of how parents have hijacked their offsprings fursuits. In one case they wanted their son to make a copy of one they were building.

But it was only after I posted this topic on a furry forum of how some struggle to let family members know they are 100% now furry. Although most parents have no problem, other than their children freaking out after seeing stacks of furry comics at home. Bought by one of their parents.

It’s like telling your parents that your gay, which is hard to believe in these enlightened times. But it still happens. Being Furry has it’s ups and downs which I know first hand. But there are good things within the fandom, an instant understanding to the problems we all face.

In other words we watch each others back.

So in conclusion there is no easy answer in telling your family that your a furry and you like to spend real money for a fursuit. I even will admit that there is some that don’t know I am a furry, while others instantly accept the idea. Like a good friend who calls me “Wolfy”.

I hope to take them to Midwest Furfest next month…I hope to see you there.
