New Danger Mouse by Patrick Bright

So I’m sure there are a lot of people here who remember an odd British cartoon that aired on Nickelodeon back in the Eighties called Dangermouse. Produced by Cosgrove Hall on a very slim budget, it more than made up for its limited animation with snappy writing and the shameless use of puns.
Well, it’s been rebooted and the new series will debut in the U.K. this month, while those of us in the U.S. will be able to see it on Netflix in spring of 2016. The animation is a lot more dynamic than it used to be, and they’ve got new voice actors for all of the characters. Here is a featurette showing off some of the new voice talent.
And yes, that includes BRIAN BLESSED!!! I’m pretty excited about this….

New Zootopia poster

Look carefully at this exclusive new Zootopia poster from Disney. There are all sorts of visual jokes in the background of this lively Times Square-esque metropolitan intersection. For instance, the billboards pushing brands like Lululemmings (not to be confused with Lululemon) and Bearberry (not Burberry).

The premise of Disney’s forthcoming animated feature posits a world in which humans never came to exist. Ergo, it is run by animals. And Zootopia is the crown jewel of the animal cities, a melting pot where all kinds of critters share street space.

Ginnifer Goodwin (Once Upon a Time) voices Judy Hopps, a no-nonsense rookie cop who has trouble fitting in as the force’s first bunny. The trouble is, she needs to trust sly fox Nick Wilde, played by Jason Bateman (Horrible Bosses), if she wants to solve her big case and keep her job.

Pop star Shakira also has a part — as Gazelle. And apparently the animal is as glamorous as her real-life counterpart, modeling for Preyda (not Prada!) shoes and bags. Can you spot her?

Disney Animation head John Lasseter sent the movie’s filmmakers to Africa to study animals under orders to make Zootopia unlike any other animal movie. “We came back completely changed because that environment hasn’t changed in 50,000 years,” director Byron Howard told Yahoo Movies at Disney’s recent D23 fan gathering. “To see the sociology and the society that animals have there, it’s really interesting to see parallels in our own society.”

Zootopia is due in theaters March 4.
