With the recent update to their site FURCONZ presents us with some rather interesting news.
1st up is a camping event they will be holding on May 3 to 6, 2024
The second is that they are planning for their 1st hotel convention which will take place sometime in 2024 as no date has been set only the city has been announced and that would be Auckland, NZ

We’ll start: with a turnout of 181 attendees, FurcoNZ 2022 has been the biggest New Zealand furry convention in history (so far) – it certainly felt as though we had a lot more suiters than last time!
For the record FurcoNZ had had a 117 at their 2020 con, this is now a 3rd fur con to have record attendance. Still waiting on charity numbers

We have had an attendee test positive for COVID after con. In short: > fully masked at con and asymptomatic > 11am shuttle (Monday) We believe this is low risk, but please continue to be vigilant. If you test positive, please inform info@furconz.org.nz so we can notify contacts.
New Zealand announced that since over 95% of the country is now vaccinated that they will ease COVID restrictions. Such as you don’t have to show your vaccine card to enter a store and group limits are being raised from 100 to 200.

We’re excited with the announcement yesterday of Orange nationwide, which means that FurcoNZ can proceed as planned in May!
Over the coming weeks we’ll be posting updates to our COVID-19 policies with specifics around mask use and other requirements.
We will also be providing updates on the Wellington shuttles and other activities.
At this stage our vaccination policy remains unchanged.
For those on our waiting list for tickets – expect us to reach out over the next week or so. If you have not yet got overnight tickets, please email info@furconz.org.nz ASAP.
Day Pass tickets will be reopening next week as well, along with merch and activities for all ticket types.

Unfortunately with the announcement today of nationwide COVID-19 level RED, we have had to make the decision to postpone FurcoNZ.
Due to the weekend, and our venue liaison being on leave, we are not able to confirm the exact new dates today. However, we are targeting the end of April or early May.
In the event this also becomes not possible due to COVID-19, we have further plans to target the Spring.
Since we have such high attendee numbers, our early plans to reduce the number of attendees or recategorize attendees are no longer possible. It would not be fair to have our vulnerable community members miss out on this event, and the event would not be the same without them.
We will be making an announcement on our new dates by the end of this week. All tickets will carry over to the new dates. After this announcement, if you are not able to make the new dates, we will be offering refunds. Any tickets refunded will return to sale. We will not be processing refunds ahead of this announcement, unless you have extenuating circumstances which will be considered on a case by case basis.
If you have any general questions, we advise seeing our FurcoNZ Telegram Chat – however, if it is non-urgent, please wait until further information comes out later this week. We will ensure that information is given out in time for those needing to cancel or move flights can do so. We recommend looking at your airlines COVID cancellation or transfer policy, including credits, in advance of this.
