NCIS: Los Angeles Furries Mentioned in Episode

Hi everyone it’s time for some really good news for once about how a major TV series have portrayed furries. Surprising I know but we were shown in a good light on the Blame it on Rio episode of NCIS Los Angeles…which is still available to watch on cbs.com.

To what exactly occurred was this, since the start of the episode 2 series regulars were talking about heading to a local renaissance fair. Then about 18 minutes in to the episode the same 2 characters talk about cosplay and then the topic turns to Califur and furries in general.

In my opinion that about 2 minute long segment showed us furries in a good light. That were are normal human beings who have a fun side to are lives. Some might object to when one of them said Califur is weird. But really aren’t all fur cons a bit weird anyway. But they are so much fun and so is the episode.

Ryan Hill: Post My Reaction

I am totally stunned by the Ryan Hill post on my blog taking off like it did. Especially since I posted it way back in May. When someone here on fb posted a blow by blow description how she took him down, with the help of the staff of BLFC and the Reno Police.

I know some have doubted my credibility, which is one of the reasons I posted photos. That and no other source of information, maybe Ryan Hill’s fb page but he really isn’t saying anything.

But whatever his legal issues are, I am happy the article took off. I been looking for an audience for my humble blog.

A cover gallery of ‘Zootopia’ books Posted by crossaffliction (Brendan Kachel)

as originally posted on flayrah.com

Back in August, we ran a story about upcoming tie-in books for Disney’s Zootopia. Yesterday, the artwork for those books’ covers were finally revealed.

The books featured are all meant primarily for children; in fact, most are meant for very young children just learning to read. But, due to the fact that they’re meant primarily as children’s storybooks, they feature a lot of artwork. Though interior illustrations have not been released, the covers are worth taking a look at for furries.

The Zootopia Junior Novelization would probably be of the most interest to furry fans actually looking to read something, as it would directly summarize the plot from the screenplay. However, it also features the least interesting cover; just the two leads of the movie, Judy and Nick, as they would appear in the CGI animated movie. The more interesting book covers are below.

Spoiler warning: If you’re the kind of person who considers tie-in children’s book covers possible spoilers, avoid reading further.

MFF 42 days and Counting

With MFF just over a month away, I been thinking about the fur con and what I plan on doing there. One thing is if possible (I say that mainly do to if I can get a signal on my cellphone) LIVE posts on both Twitter and Instagram as they happen. I also plan on talking to someone about a documentary they plan on doing about furries. Plus I have a friend who is going and this will be there 1st time at any fur con.

But no the biggest thing on my mind recently are the questions that I wonder about.

Will there be another incident like last year…the chlorine attack?

AS far as I know once again Ryan Hill who absolutely confessed to hiring someone to commit that act of terrorism. Is not in jail, but is on probation. I have no idea if the one who did that horrible act is even in jail.

The only thing I can be certain of as I seen the truck myself, the Hyatt Regency has gotten a FULL Upgrade in their security cameras. I heard from this security guard, cameras are everywhere in the Hyatt. Especially now in the staircases where the attack took place. They also have ones aimed directly at the fire alarms. BTw since the attack Rosemont has now upped the fine for setting one off to $500, if you did it as a joke. So be warned.

The Attendance?

We know something like the attack will get people to come, it always happens. But more a guess than anything else. I heard that every nearby hotel is booked solid for that weekend. Even the secondary hotels like the Motel 6 (less than a mile away) is also booked solid. Some could say other conventions, but no I checked. No other major conventions are taking place that weekend. We will just have to wait and see. BTW I just heard today that the hotels in Schaumburg, 25 miles from the conventions are filling up.

Going to a Major Furry Event?!!!

SAM_1829

I went to Boo at The Zoo yesterday, which was being held Oct. 17, 2015 at the Brookfield Zoo, in Brookfield, IL. First of all Boo at the Zoo, is a family friendly event where those in costume can parade around the zoo. The local furries here love that event, as it gives them a chance to meet up and show off there fursuit. I for one can say it was GREAT, the zoo did a magnificent job, and the furries could not be any nicer. I took a lot of photos and should have them up on my flickr page very soon.

But I want to say it was more than just focusing on those in costumes, they had face painting, corn mazes and plenty of activities for those of all ages.

Well any way I had a great time, meet some furries I hadn’t seen in a long time. Saw some incredible fursuits, but I heard only 1 complaint. Which I felt I better pass along. If your going to use your phone to take photos make sure that there IS enough space for those photos. Remember that USB cable that came with your phone, it can be used for more than just recharging your phone. It’s called copying your photos off on to your PC or somewhere.

Remember if there is no space on your phone you can’t take any photos

Furries Aren’t As Weird As You Think by Molly Fosco

as originally posted om seekernetwork.com

Thousands of furries invite you to the party of the year. Open your mind and step into their world of friends, family, and fursonas.

There’s a subculture you’ve likely heard of that’s been slowly growing every year. Their main identifier is the enormous cartoon animal costumes they wear for fun. Yes, we’re talking about furries.

What exactly is a furry? A furry is both someone who dresses up in cartoon animal costumes, as well as someone who is a fan of cartoon animal characters – the community uses the term interchangeably. But furry culture goes much deeper than that. At furry conventions, like the annual Anthrocon in Pittsburgh, every furry in attendance feels like they can truly be themselves and they’re supported by people who really understand them.

David Kanaszka from Jacksonville, Florida dresses up as a white tiger for Anthrocon every year. Part of the reason he loves furry conventions is because the community is so open-minded and accepting. He says, “You can be yourself. You don’t have to worry about what they’re going to think of you because you’re dressed up like a giant animal.”

Pittsburgh has really begun to embrace the furries as well when they come to the city each year. Not only is it fun for little kids to pet the animals and take pictures with them, but the Anthrocon convention actually brings in about $5.7 million dollars in revenue. And they always donate a portion of that to an animal-related charity.

One of the biggest concerns of the furry community is that they don’t want to be misunderstood. Many people mistakenly believe that dressing up like a furry is a sexual fetish, but that’s actually far from the truth. The only assumption you should make about the furry community is that they’re some of the most creative individuals you’ll ever meet.
