I joined Meetup dot com last year and it’s been a total disaster ever since. Joined specifically because of the WordPress meets. Been to 2 and found they are unless you are going to make money off of someone who is going to use WordPress as their site. The photography group I joined was also a total dud, the only actual meets are in locations you need a car to get too, and I don’t drive, the rest are suggestions with subjects to take photos of. Tried one more for the halibut it seems it’s organizer plans these events without setting a location, well that is not exactly true. They did set a couple of locations and meets but really 2 counties away and you need a car to get there. Finally got so fed up I quit that site today.
