Fred Patten is well known about the furry community. I was grateful before his passing that I was able to do an interview. I have never told anyone, and frankly only his friends knew he was a frighten old man. Who really felt intimidated.

It seems Patch O’Furr and Dogpatch Press are refusing to abide by Fred Patten’s Final Wish.

You see in his later years Fred Patten wrote 100s of reviews. I don’t quite understand the circumstances but Dogpatch Press got all of them. Before Mr. Patten’s death Patch O’Furr was slowly releasing them. But had to stop when they died.

I found out from one of Mr. Patten’s friends a letter was sent to Dogpatch Press which included his final wish.

That was to release every review online, either a free site or archive dot org

To this very date Patch O’Furr has simply refused to release them.

I am not asking for the reviews, I just want them to be shared to the entire furry fandom. Possibility Furry Preservation or Furry Writer’s Guild

But today is the 4th, and in my opinion one of the biggest messed up 4th I ever lived through. We are faced with bad news coming from seemingly everywhere. Where both rich and poor are on the verge of…. 

But we are alive, I may not have as many family connections as you. But you are alive, and hopefully the weather cooperates and you can do what you like to do over this extended weekend. Having fun, traveling, even if it is just to a restaurant to have a good meal. It is doing something and I guess that is the whole point about today. Doing what YOU enjoy rather than someone telling you have to do this or that.

If you even check out my social media feeds. You see I am a good photographer, at everyone says I am. Meanwhile you see dozens of posts from fursuiters literally wondering if anyone got any photos of them taken at a con. So a few years back I openly offer my services as a photographer for FREE, and I still do. The next time will be sometime next year. My only Rules are simple no porn, and nothing at a RAVE. That’s it, if they are scared I might try and steal their photos. All they have to provide me is an SD card I will use only for their images. Otherwise I more than likely a file sharing site such as Media Fire so they can get their images.

Or however they want them.

I go out of my way not to get political here. But sometimes a furry must take a stand and that was where I stood

That is some 2 blocks away from where the main event took place. The CPD says there was around 70,000 I think it was more like a 100,000

Yet another hit to our wallets as iBolt puts it so well

With everything getting more and more expensive. Meanwhile those in power are saying “Get Use to IT”. All the while everything they do are making things… not just eggs get more and more expensive. My personal grocery bill has gone up 25% and mind you I am not buying steaks or anything fancy. Even at Aldi a pound of ground beef is nearly $9 at times. All produce and keep in mind I often go to multiple stores. Has gone up by 50 cents to $1 per pound.

Ground turkey which is generally $2.49 at Aldi often sells out now. I know I am not the only one feeling the pinch.

Oh I will remember this during the next major election. Impeach that tariff happy idiot, who has no idea what we actually make in the US.

Meanwhile the only transport company that isn’t charging a per bag fee is Amtrak

Now that I been to 4 different fur cons, I feel I should tell everyone exactly how I feel about all of them.

Given the way I feel, if I hadn’t arrange something with a friend already I might not even go. It’s very crowded and has gotten way worse than it was in 2023. I feel food choices aren’t much of a choice… expensive or Poke Bowls or whatever the hotel is offering. By Sunday I would of killed for a pizza.

Don’t get me wrong the panels were good and that dance event was amazing. In fact I hope to do 1 at MFF myself, I have to cleanse myself of that awful furry reporter panel they had last year. I reported them to the Furry Reporter Community. They seem to be not apart of anything.

If I had a choice I might go to one of the Seattle based fur cons instead.

Indy Fur Con

I often call this the little con that could. Mainly because as bad as some news they get. They are still around. Also it seems the Best Con suite of those who still have them. Even though it’s limited to Sponsors… it’s well worth it. They got food trucks and the nearby walk-able places are a great option. The panels are excellent, they have a fursuit parade and expect the unexpected.

Furry Migration

Great con, never had an issue, getting into opening way early was a huge bonus. Con Suite maybe not the best. But they do try. Fursuit Parade excellent.

Restaurant choices in the area, poor. Please use an app for food.

Fur Squared

OMG all the excitement of a big con, but in a little con package. Never having an issue and actually being able to speak with board members excellent. Con Swag AMAZING, Con Suite okay drinks, snack foods that was about it. The hotel did set up a stand selling food, cheap and good. Panels amazing.

Nearby restaurants excellent. Plenty to see and do before and after each day. No wonder so many love this con. I can really see why.

Because of both swag, and that amazing Super Sponsor Dinner. This is the only 1 I would return to as a Super Sponsor
