Tregarth dragon sculpture prompts police road safety warning

The BBC reports

A giant wooden dragon has prompted a police warning to drivers not to slow down to look at it after an accident and numerous near-misses.

The seven-metre (25ft) carving, called Y Ddraig Derw – the oak dragon – looks down on the A5, near Tregarth, Gwynedd.

Sculptor Simon O’Rourke, who made the dragon, also urged motorists to pay attention to the road.

North Wales Police said that while they “love the oak dragon” they were “concerned” about road safety issues.

They then go on about the artist and how it was made with more photos, still a magnificent statue

Digger Volume 2 Review

The second collection of Digger features the third and fourth chapters of the highly acclaimed webcomic. Digger is still lost in the strange land she discovered at the end of a one-way tunnel, which now seems more intentional than accidental. A seemingly innocuous fossil she picked up on the way is suspected of having more to it than meets the eye, and the beneficient talking statue of Ganesh has a need that sends Digger and a decidedly unhinged acolyte deep underground in search of answers.
Compared to all that, vampire squash, hungry hyenas, and over-zealous religious police are trifles, really…
Digger Volume Two continues the story which is attracting so much attention. The New York Times calls Digger “…A visually powerful strip.”, and Ping Teo (“The Jaded”) says “Everyone’s been rhapsodizing about it, and with good reason.” This collection also contains a short bonus section written and illustrated by Ursula, describing the domesticated species of moles favored by wombat society in the pursuit of their digging.

I never even heard of the Digger webcomic before buying Digger volume 2 at the most recent MFF and what I found utterly delighted me. What you get is a great story that doesn’t take itself too seriously, wonderful characters whose backgrounds will surprise you sometimes in the countryside being Australia that most of us really don’t know much about.

I give Digger a solid 10 and if I knew it was this good I would of bought the entire series collection instead of just volume 2. Solid 10 out of 10.
