Aurawra Sydney own Homegrown Furcon announces postponement

First and foremost, we’d like to thank all of you for your patience and support through these uncertain times.
Australia and the rest of the world are currently facing a terrifying and difficult challenge in containing this pandemic, but the kind and supportive words we’ve received from many of you have been a relief to our staff.

In the interest of the health and safety of all our community, we have decided to postpone the inaugural Aurawra Convention until July 23rd – 25th, 2021.
As excited as we are to host a great event for you all, the current state of the pandemic has proven unpredictable. We consider your well-being our top priority and we don’t want to have to disappoint you with a short notice cancellation.

Beastars (Season 1) Full Review SPOILER WARNING

I want to make it very clear from the start that I am going to touch on a few things that will be spoilers, but I am not going in to detail. In fact there will be a lot of stuff I miss, and more for you to find out yourself…if you hadn’t seen it.

Really I was following the progress of Beastars online for some time, watching the overwhelming popular opinions on social media to when I finally saw it on Netflix in the US, and yes I watched the Dubbed version.

What I saw in the very opening when that student was killed had me instantly hooked. The world these characters live actually put the world of Zootopia to shame. Obvoiusly more Adult due to the theme, but OMFG!!! It felt if each character was alive, they had their own personality, and issues.

The series actually focuses on Legoshi, a grey wolf with issues, and like most carnivores in this world finding their own place in a world they share with herbivores. Reminding me a lot of daily life before this CORVID issue. We quickly discover in this world carnivores are not all as they seem. Take Legoshi encounter with Haru a female dwarf rabbit, where he is unsure did he go after her to eat or was it because he loves her.

I kid you not this is in the very first episode

Set in Cherryton Academy what to the Western World looks more like a upscale High School in where it’s students share dorms. With all the typical issues like when Haru get her mattress tossed out a window by another student.

Although some of it is set in and around Cherryton Academy this is not your typical High School Anime. What you get in a single episode is more than some Anime’s do in an entire season. On top of which you get the tension between Herbivores and Carnivores. Combine that with the fear of devouring, 2 murders, a love story that crosses species all packaged in a very unique anime the likes of which I have never seen before.

You will actually care about these characters will some even live until Graduation. Plus the issues with The Mayor who happens to a lion. A gang to kidnaps animals off the street so they later can devour. Let alone dealing with their classmates, you get what is simply in my opinion the best anime I have ever seen.

The 12 episodes of season 1 simply fly by, I can see why some have mislabeled events belonging to the wrong episode. Because you get some involved in the events are taking place, let alone the world they live in, you simply get lost with their world. Even I can’t quote a particular event to just 1 episode.

I want to talk about The Cliffhanger ending, even after seeing it 3 times I am still not quite sure what is going on. Set after the Summer Break, where Legoshi really does not tell us anything. Then there the drugs and Legoshi not being scared as this person approaches has me on the edge of my seat. Waiting for season 2…whenever that finally arrives.

You simply can not find any anime series as great as Beastars.

Words of Wisdom from The Dalai Lama

A deep awareness of the goodness of human beings, that they are essentially kind, helpful, and gentle, can give us courage and hope. On a personal level too, such a vision of our basic nature can help promote a greater sense of well-being and connectedness with others.

COVID-19 and Wild Nights

Wild Nights Furcon which was supposed to take place on April 23-27 this year in Wilburton, OK USA has officially postponed this years convention to next year.

Wild Nights 2020 POSTPONED

Wild Nights 2020 has been officially postponed until 2021. After an emergency business meeting the decision was made to postpone Wild Nights until next year, due to the COVID-19 outbreak. These are events that are beyond our control.

The organization will be getting a refund of our deposit from the park. Having the event this year was not possible; the Oklahoma Parks department is not allowing any gathering of more than 10 people in keeping with CDC recommendations.

We’re doing this as a ‘postponement’ instead of as a ‘cancellation’ because otherwise, by our Bylaws/rules, we would have to elect new Members at Large and appoint Event Directors, etc. By handling it as a cancellation, all those folks stay in their positions. Officers, however, will need to be re-elected, and nominations are now open for them on the business forum.

What if I’ve pre-registered?
