VC Wrap Up for 11/11/2020

COVID-19 Report: Little Island Fur Con and some good news

Little Island Fur Con recently announced on their site

Update (Oct 2020): LIFC has been further postponed and we will provide the convention date in a future update.

We also finally got some good news namely the vaccine will be ready starting this Dec to 1st Responders . To everyone else more than likely anywhere from Jan to March for everyone else. The problem is really 2 fold #1 the making of enough vaccine to treat everyone and #2 it has to be stored at extremely cold temperatures.

There is also a 3rd issue which has been brought up on a couple of fur con groups on social media which is. Given how bad COVID-19 has been will it be a requirement to show proof you have been vaccinated before you will be allowed in.

The answer to all of them is nobody really knows, and we will all have to wait and see.

Nitro and Possible Connection to New Con

From GFTV

According to many claims around, it’s Nitro (ex-chair of Capital City FC) who’s supposedly behind the new convention.

A user called HypeKitty claimed that they’re staffed by people who are 18 to 19 years old.

Briggs, the chairman of ACFC (Amish County FC) disbanded their TG group soon after, attributing the “ideas and assets” to Nitro, saying it belongings to him.

Later, ACFC’s Twitter was deleted.

Singapore Time 10/11/2020 2:09pm, Con Staff Watch tweeted that a Dealers’ Den page titled “Nitro Rookski” popped up. On it states that Nitro’s leaving the fandom.

Rupert Bear turns 100: The adventures continue

Some might be asking what so important about a comic turning 100. Can you even think of another that old and still producing new comics for the British public. You simply can’t as it is remarkable it has even lasted this long.

From Wikipedia

Rupert Bear is a children’s comic strip character created by British artist Mary Tourtel and first appearing in the Daily Express newspaper on 8 November 1920. Rupert’s initial purpose was to win sales from the rival Daily Mail and Daily Mirror. In 1935, the stories were taken over by Alfred Bestall, who was previously an illustrator for Punch and other glossy magazines. Bestall proved to be successful in the field of children’s literature and worked on Rupert stories and artwork into his 90s. More recently, various other artists and writers have continued the series. About 50 million copies have been sold worldwide.

The comic strip was, and still is, published daily in the Daily Express, with many of these stories later being printed in books, and every year since 1936 a Rupert annual has also been released. Rupert Bear has become a well-known character in children’s culture in the United Kingdom, and the success of the Rupert stories has led to the creation of several television series based on the character. The character also has a large fan following, with such groups as The Followers of Rupert.

Since then there has been countless books, 5 TV series, and 3 video games. Including a special series of stamps.
