It’s finally here!
Over two years in the writing and even longer in the planning, Furry Planet, my sequel to 2017’s Furry Nation is here!
Like its predecessor, Furry Planet covers furry art, fursuits, “remarkable” furs and their creations…simply put, the amazing variety of ways furries express themselves.
Furries, or “furs” for short, are fans or enthusiasts of anthropomorphic animal characters, animals with human qualities or abilities: cartoon characters, storybook animals or imaginary ones like talking dragons and unicorns.
Furry is no longer (as Furry Nation described it) an “American” subculture: furries can now be found all over the world, on every continent (including Antarctica!) and in dozens of countries; Earth is now truly a furry planet!
But furries aren’t the only ones who express themselves via anthropomorphic imagery; creators of popular culture and the fine arts also explore anthropomorphism in their work; you can find their creations onscreen, onstage, in libraries, art galleries and museums. Furry Planet’s chaptersgive equal time tothese creators and their creations—and reveal how their work mirrors furry self-expression.
Furry Planet is a beautiful 285 page hardcover book, courtesy of Apollo Publishers. It includes a color and black & white art section featuring photographs and artwork from both furry and mainstream creators. More information can be found in Apollo’s online catalog:
