There it is and 100% official

Attendance jumped by over 2,000

and see that fursuit parade number that beats what Anthrocon attendance from 2007, as well as beats what most cons get

I know there has been talk of where the new furries are coming from. But both AC and FWA where both saw a significant increase in numbers. I think we have our answer, I have no doubt that MFF will beat that number, the only question is by how much.

Let me give you a little insider info.

There are already hotels in the Rosemont area that are booked solid for MFF, and yes I know it’s July 8th. The same thing happened at AC, but I heard when they opened the hotel block. That those were the only rooms available at that hotel, the rest were booked solid.

It’s like I have always said, booking your own room ahead of time, is the only way you guarantee that you actually have a room.

One more thing… AirBnBs sold out at AC before the event. MFF they are available, at least the last time I checked.

You know this will only get worse as time marches on.

I know everyone wants to get their badge ASAP. But all these excessive wait times are not good for anyone. Personally I would have gone back the next day.

ANNOUNCEMENT: GENERAL HOTEL OPENING DELAY

During our Supersponsor hotel opening, we received multiple reports of issues with the booking software (Passkey) not properly holding attendees’ rooms during booking. We had initially tested this system with Passkey’s tech team, but further investigation revealed underlying issues with the implementation. The fix is currently being looked into by Passkey’s technical team, but we do not currently have a timeline on when it will be resolved.

As a result, we are delaying the General Hotel opening for Anthrocon 2024. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause for those who have planned for the February 2 hotel opening. However, we wish to avoid any additional frustration of our members by trying to book a hotel room when the system is not performing as expected. We also sincerely apologize to any of our Supersponsors who were impacted by this situation.

The system is working once again

Online pre-registration will PAUSE on January 30th to get ready for our hotel openings, and re-open on February 2nd at 11am. Anyone that registers after that time will find the hotel booking link in their confirmation!

For literally the 1st time in a few years Anthrocon has regained it’s title as the Largest Furry Convention in The World. So what happened?

If you look at the above numbers you can see Anthrocon has always had a slow and steady growth. Some what like the turtle in the Hare and the turtle story, then this year happened.

Actually there are more than a few reasons why, take Anthrocon itself. It’s not just the convention, it’s the river cruise, the block party and other events the con backs. In addition sadly a few other smaller conventions have closed their doors, and since the end of the pandemic people want to go to cons.

So what will happen at MFF in a few months?!!! That is anyone’s guess…
