IFC 2023: The Contest You Didn’t Know #1

This year Indy Fur Con attempted to run 2 separate contests. I call them even if you at IFC it’s more than likely never heard of them.

Lets focus on what was told on their site to watch out for these agents of C.O.W.A. Created by Foxx Boxx Studios with a cash prize.

I put it down to them trying to incorporate the spy theme way too hard. Something I actually learned running this blog. You Got to Get The Word Out.

There was somewhere between 24 to 26 of these with letters and false clues and punctuation and even then you had to go to a secret Discord server for the final clue.

I learned this from a panel where I and 6 other people actually attended.

For the record I found 6 mostly C’s and this other person found 13. Personally I think a lot were just taking them as free souvenirs.

Did anyone actually win?

I contacted Foxx Boxx Studios and this is what they said.

Thank you so much for reaching out,

Sadly the Cowspirisits have won this year resulting in no winners. Our game developers at Foxx Boxx Studios are looking to a bigger picture for next year.

Bigger games are coming for next year with a doubled cash prize. We can’t give out too many hints this early, but we look forward to the 2024 year.

Indy Fur Con 2023 Extras #2

As my coverage is winding down I am having less and less to talk about LOL!!

But I came up with a few things Dealer’s Den and Artist Alley is the 1st that come to mind

Okay the room was small, but the selection was great. I am sitting here next to a pile of stickers some of which I got for free. Waiting to be applied to my laptop. I got some really good ones, and that cat butt key chain I got for a friend they totally love. I swear I found a better selection of items at IFC than the last MFF.

There charity Exotic Animal Rescue and Pet Sanctuary is amazing. To date they are the only ones who clearly understand why I don’t want a pet currently. We talked about so much stuff I highly respect all of their work.

The Sponsor’s Lounge OMG!!!
It was a nice quiet spot where you could sit down and have a drink soda or water as well as a snack. I heard they occasionally served meals. The only problem I never found out when.

The staff was fantastic by pure accident and a crowded restaurant I was offered to share a table and soon joined by 2 board members. We all had a nice conversation, lets just say I learned a lot.

I also confirmed a rumor I heard about MFF’s 2022 tees as in the number sold. It was at least 31,000, and who plain knew that the cons in the general area around Chicago often shared things like stages and back drops. This equipment gets used. It just plain makes sense.

And speaking about food, the hotel created a Special Menu Option

Plus they had an Unlimited Margarita Special for Breakfast all you can drink for $5

Indy Fur Con 2023: Red Dragon, Blue Dragon

The 2 dragons

I got the full story from operations and here it is. The Blue Dragon went up for auction at AnthrOhio and Security/ Ops had the winning bid with help from other’s helping out.

It was soon adopted as Indy Fur Con’s Unofficial Mascot.

Soon after IFC wanted a second one so they could put it up for auction this year. So they contacted the maker, by the way the dragon is crotchet and has as much yarn as a crocheted blanket. So that is how they got the red dragon. I have no idea how much it sold for due to the fact I was at other events.

A big deal was made by some over Reg Line. Some complained they waited about 4 hours, given what I saw they were working as fast as they could, but they need to learn what the bigger cons do. MFF can process over 700 per hour. They should use a PC more but MFF learned the hard way as previous years had wait times of over 7 hours

My YouTube Vids

As my might have noticed I have been uploading videos to YouTube, and they have been quite popular. This morning I uploaded my 6th video with more on the way when YT hit me with my stats. Thanks Everyone

Indy Fur Con 2023: Extras #1

Since I already covered the basics I felt it was time to talk about the little things. Like that table Alkali and Status Ferret shared. I spoke with Alkali and absolute bonus in my opinion he is so very nice and very much welcome to praise. Hell I seen him for years and love his work. He did a ton of panels at IFC and they were all great.

Like any convention you get unexpected moments. Frankly I was there at the right time and place to snag this video.

If your wondering whose voice that is it’s mine and I was saying to someone. No one would believe this without a video.

A few weeks before I saw a went to IFC I saw one of those con tour videos and thought this would help a lot of people. Frankly I wish it was available earlier as I was unsure where everything was

Okay so I admit it, I did say I was going to volunteer but didn’t. Reason why was simple there was too much to do, so many panels, so little time.

I will admit, I had a great time, left with not post con depression but a good case of cabin fever. There are no sidewalks and 5 block walk along whatever path you feel safe. Frankly that road gets little traffic at least while I was there. That leads to a Waffle House, Speedway, and a Jimmy Johns and that’s it.

More tomorrow with more videos

IFC and Cassidy Civet

Ever go in to something with your mind already made a decision about something that happened, then feeling totally embarrassed because you were wrong. That’s me and I want to apologize to the IFC Board for making so many wrong assumptions about what happened.

I found out a few things I can’t repeat as I have no evidence. Let’s just say Cassidy got caught on the wrong side of something that happened that caused most of IFC’s Board to resign and a death. I am not joking someone did die. This also caused some of the issues I saw as in where do you put the dirty dishes during The Super Sponsor’s Dinner, and that mess in Sponsor Early Reg. when someone forgot to alphabetize the list. It is very understandable why they want feedback, and kept talking about that feedback email address feedback@indyfurcon.com

I know it’s not what you expect, I also kind of know why they didn’t announce the 2024 date… just yet. But for the same issue as I stated earlier I have no proof, only what I heard.

But speaking with the staff at the hotel, I am very happy to say the Furries were well behaved and the hotel is more than welcome to have them back. No major incidents period.

Indy Fur Con 2023: Last Day

With as of this posting my bags are packed and I am currently waiting for the time to leave. It’s time for you to catch up on my day and it certainly was a packed one.

I heard of the call of the wild, but call of the waffles?!!!

Don’t get me wrong, the food at the Wyndham is pretty good. But by yesterday I wanted something else and that was The Waffle House

Which for the record is more like 5 blocks from the hotel. I had a waffle, 2 sausages and hash browns for $12.75 even with tip it still was cheaper than that Breakfast Buffet they gave us at the hotel.

The food was excellent, what is even better I discovered a furry works there.

The Fursuit Games were completely different than the way MFF runs there. They leave out the toys and let the fursuiters at it. Seeing them play with a giant beach ball than later using an inflatable bowling pin on it. Was a site to behold.

Went to a few game show panels, the one that stands out in my mind was Scribbles and Bits where the audience along with the host Iggy. Write a short story, it was a terrible story but fun.

Had a pulled pork sandwich at a food truck which was excellent

I guess the highlight of that day was IFC What I missed Firr and Status Ferret ran what has to be the funniest thing I ever seen. 1st up was a chat was how things ran and Status running 31 panels and that crayon gag.

Lastly the Closing Ceremony itself

The Stats

360 Fursuit Parade

Charity $20,800

and the total attendance 1,722

and next year’s theme will be MONSTERS!!!

Almost forgot IFC printed photos featuring all the fursuiters in the parade

The photos will eventually be made available online

Indy Fur Con Day 3: THE FURSUIT PARADE!!!

I hadn’t seen a fursuit parade since MFF dropped theirs a few years ago.

Can’t show the video right now issues, but will have it up ASAP when I get home but in the meantime

It ran some 17 minutes with some fursuiters going twice. A quirk due to the layout of the hotel… no really.

Would you believe I also found out the true reason why MFF dropped their fursuit parade. It was due to it’s own success and the layout of the hotel, and frankly the weather rarely cooperates that time of year. The crowd made continuing to have one impossible, and the weather generally made it impossible to run it outside.

The above photo was from The Rabbit spy panel which was totally fun. The giant bunny was a surprise guest.

Ran into Alkali in the Dealers Den hell of a nice guy, you would not believe the number of panels he did. The Convention War Stories Panel was a huge surprise and quite a delight. He had so many nice things to say about everything.

The Charity Whose Lion was actually better than the regular one which had audience involvement. But all of it was great.

The eagerly awaited Sponsor’s Dinner was good. I was hoping to run into more of the staff. But it was good. The had everything from Salad to a rather yummy chocolate cake.

Sadly today is the last day of the convention. I got to leave tomorrow and head home.

But not the coverage there is still a lot I need to talk about but with photos and videos. I hope to continue it this week. In addition to my normal coverage of furry news.
