Don’t throw away that game!!!!

Begin both a collector and fan of videogames I am almost shocked to hear people are tossing old games…just because they think they are worthless. That my dear reader use to be true, believe it or not videogames along with the consoles that play them have become highly  collectible as long as they work!!! Think I am joking look at this list of highly collectible and very valuable titles.

Atari 2600. Wonder had a $6,500 offer on Birthday Mania, so technically that becomes most valuable.
Atari 5200 Bounty Bob $700 boxed
Atari 7800 Tank Command $500 sealed
Atari Jaguar Battlesphere gold $500
Colecovision Xonox double ender cart Motocross and Tomarc $100
NES. Nintendo World Championship $17,500
Odyssey 2 Power Lords! $200
Sega CD 32X  Darxide  $170
Sega Master System. Sonic the Hedgehog $150
Sega Genesis. Blockbuster World Championship cart $2,000
Sega Genesis 32x.  Spider-man Web of Fire $160

I am not saying your going to find these games in your or your parent’s closet or basement, but really the value on some games have really hit the roof. Take what happened to Final Fantasy 7 for the original Playstation. 2 years ago I was offered just $17 for that game I own, now my used copy is now worth $60.  Then there is the NES game Tetris, the version made by Tengen it averages around $1000. Think I am kidding?! Just check out any search engine, or Ebay and see what some very old games go for you will be amazed. Oh sure there are still some highly worthless titles like this old N64 title I tried to sell recently WWF No Mercy, it goes for $3 so I just gave it away to a swap meet. But who knows what you are likely to find, and given the way things are wouldn’t you like to have a little extra cash in your pocket?

There is one last thing I have to add, as in “What if I have a title that I can’t find online and I don’t know what it is worth?”, I say then sign in to the forum at http://www.atariage.com there are so many collectors on that board it’s hard not to find just one. You will get your answer faster than you might think. I know I have been a member there for many years.

Happy Hunting everyone!!!
