The pitfalls of some reward programs

Let me tell you want happened to me the other day, I got the Partridge Family season 2 box set and inside the first disc package was a mention of the Sony Rewards program, and it said you can earn points when buying your Sony DVDs. The only downside this was very old info and it seemed the program had since changed. Now besides the usual for these reward programs earning points for doing surveys and making lists as well as playing some games. It seems the only way to earn points when buying Sony DVDs is using either a Sony Card
or a Playstation Visa. I advise anyone unless they have these cards or regularly play through there official sites either Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune steer clear of this program.

But that is not the only one you should be warned about. Coke’s My Coke Reward program is almost as equally bad. Oh sure getting points could not be any easier just buy any Coke product and enter the code on the site. But due to the fact Coke had planned to shut down the program more than once over the last 2 years. It seems many of the companies that use to be apart of the program had dropped out leaving only what I can say is a pitiful selection of rewards available. What there is mainly contests, virtual prizes, magazine subscriptions and electronic coupons, they do have coupons for free coke products but you have to have to have a store that takes internet coupons. As for electronics they do have some but they are over 1000 points
and given you get 30 for a case and 3 for a 20 oz bottle you have to buy a way more than a lot to even get anything half good.

Then there is programs Staples, Office Max and Best Buy runs. These type of programs you get points for buying stuff at there store and depending on the program it is usually 1 point = $1 of stuff bought it really depends on the program how many points will it take to get a gift
card in the mail. Best Buy has a unusual twist to their program member can modify their membership so when they got to select restaurants in their area they earn points as well, the same could be said for Best Buy’s recycling program members earn bonus points from there as well.

Columbia House has a really unique program they call Fun Cash, based at $2 for any single DVD and $4 for any set as soon as you earn $20 or more you get a free DVD all you pay for is shipping. Then they have this other program which is not so well known occasionally they will send their customers coupons for free DVDs the only catch it’s a buy 1 get 1 free and both must be $20 or more. I found out the first can include sets, but the free one has to be a single DVD.

Disney Movie Rewards is an amazing program. You maybe have seen mention of this program in any Disney DVD you may of bought recently. It is like most programs it’s based on points but you can earn not only free DVDs, electronics, skins and cases. Basically any Disney labeled product you can get for FREE. It works basically like this you buy
a Disney DVD you get 100 points, and free DVDs start at 750 points so it really does not take that many DVDs to start getting free ones. Best of all you don’t have to even pay for shipping like some programs
