Furry for beginners part 3

This time we look at fursuits, ears, tails and etc.

First of all there is for the most part nothing odd about any of that stuff. At least in the furry world, it isn’t it’s more a matter of furry pride than anything else. I would not suggest you wear them to work, but any where else is fine…and that is a matter for you to decide. But they are mainly worn at cons and fur meets so that usually isn’t a problem. First of all fursuits aka full body animal costumes can be rather expensive, some really can be over $1,000. But given what I seen of some of them they are amazingly detailed…they are not the costumes you see in a college play. Some are real works of art. But you should know they are HOT!! I don’t mean sexy, I mean temperature wise. It is very possible to get over heated and pass out. Like mascots at various sporting events, or major theme parks and some have died because they got heat stroke. So be careful with them in hot weather.

I like to pass along here a little story a fellow fur told me about his furry pride. He actually wears his wolf fursuit during local parades. In fact he had become a local celebrity as he also visits sick children in hospitals to cheer them up. I applaud him for not only showing off his furry pride but doing good at the same time.

Obviously ears and tails are a cheaper option, not to mention safer on a Summer’s day. They can cost around $50, but if you have the skill with needle and thread they can be even cheaper. But I would highly recommend something, take a sewing class. You see many places that sell fabric including fake fur have sewing classes sometimes they are just a few bucks, or even free.

Then we go down to the less obvious way to show off your furry pride which can be as cheap as photo buttons, to key fobs, and even jewelry. I long suspected a former girlfriend of being a secret furry as she always wore this deer bracelet.
