Today, there is too strong a sense of ‘us’ and ‘them’. There’s too much sense of ‘my friends’ or ‘my enemy’. But we can change that. I’m committed to the idea of the oneness of humanity. As human beings we are all the same. What’s more we all have to live together on this planet.
Want to join ConFuzzled staff? We’re looking for a new Head of Design!
To apply, go here: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/PD3RTXJ (Closes 7th July)
As Head of Design, your main responsibility is to source and create artwork for the convention, in line with the theme choice each year.
Some of your key tasks will include;
- Sourcing all requested artwork for the convention
- Design the convention conbook / mini guide
- Create the hotel theming for the convention
- Designing (with suitable notice) items for other teams (conpack, roll up banners, posters)
- Discussion with suppliers for printing / conpack items
- Preparing the website design and layout
- Adding the ConFuzzled personality to the written word (where appropriate and required)
As part of these responsibilities, you’ll have to be able to work to certain deadlines. The most obvious one is the convention itself, but other deadlines will come throughout the year, including ensuring material is ready to send to printers, or materials needed for our website.
As the Head of the Design department, you may also be responsible for managing others in your department. You will also be reporting to an Associate Director within the convention, who will help co-ordinate your activities.
Furcation ready for 2021 Online Con, but the next IN PERSON CON is 2022
Furcation Online 2021
Furcation Online 2021: Pool Party
12th to 14th November 2021
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, Furcation will be running online again in 2021. We hope to return to running our usual in-person event in 2022. Our theme “The Rawring Twenties” will roll over (again…) to our next in-person event in 2022. Please see our COVID-19 notice for more information.
We will be streaming Furcation 2021 live on Twitch between the 12th and 14th November 2021.
We also have a Discord server set up and ready for those who want to chat, enjoy the stream, play games with your friends and generally chat about what you see on stream. To join, please click the Discord button at the top of the page.
For those who like to be more involved in a virtual world, we have set up a Furcation based VRChat world, with two caravans in them so you can still chill with your friends in your own caravan, with the Twitch stream being broadcast direct to the televisions! It’s almost like being at Furcation, only without the fresh, sea air!
And, in between all this, we’re going to have a digital con-book for you! No convention is complete without a con-book!
Event submissions are open for Furcation Online 2021.
If you are interested in hosting an event, please fill out our event submission form and our Events team will be in touch.
Bliss is your standard spacefaring world, a society that is just advanced enough where robots and other intelligent machines are apart of their daily lives. Everyone is at peace, you could even grab a pizza from a nearby restaurant driven you there by a super smart car. Who might have a conversation with you on your journey. Otherwise all is well.
Until something went wrong and all these intelligent machines went on the rampage. They include creepies, jester robots, zombies and happy evil pets so no one is having a good time.
Except for Betty, she is a host from a TV show who came to Bliss to basically takeover the world (insert evil laugh here). Armed with her apocolyptic computer virus.
What Van Millvele have given us is a light hearted look at an apocalypse. Where the Evil Betty plans to make the planet Bliss her own laughable, which starts when she kills her partner Raymond. Who is kept alive for short period of time being loaded to one computer for a few hours before it burns out then being loaded to another and so on. Her partner the Evil King Valor even has his own plans. Meanwhile Betty’s own servants hate her so no one is entirely loyal.
Meanwhile 2 members of her former crew Allen and Delkcoda have enough evidence to put Betty away for life. But like everyone else they want to get off of Bliss.
The story goes in to a lot of backstory of each of the characters and we learn what makes their decisions. Which is rare in a lot of books, especially when for the most part all of the main characters are connected in often surprising ways.
Like the zombies in this tale, who really aren’t zombies. It’s more like someone with a plant based infection which slowly kills them as they hunt for sugar. Oh sure they do go for the standard brains, but they rather have the sugar.
So as you see nothing is like any other Apocalyptic tale you might have seen. Meanwhile Allen and Delkcoda fall in love as they fight off enemies.
Finally the other galactic governments take notice and send help. This is when Col Ghoul Flint enters the story, despite his name is a good guy who wants to help everyone escape the planet Bliss. But also put those behind this in prison for life if not longer.
As everyone starts to leave, evidence is gathered. I really have to give it to the author for including themselves in this tale which can include furries and dragons. Not in person but a quote or even forwarding evidence to the right party.
As plans are finally made for the evil doers arrest. We learn why the backstories were important. It seems Allen and Delkcoda can’t be together…at least not at first. Do to Delkcoda’s family. Who in my opinion could easily be a guest on The Jerry Springer Show. They are that messed up.
Until Col. Ghoul Flint enters the picture and routes out a little corruption at the prison planet – Pit Island is where Allen is now employed. Also making arrangements for Delkcoda can join their true love and get married.
Then it hits you, this is also a love story.
Still one of the most interesting stories I ever read, and you actually understand the motivation of these characters.
I know a lot of people say “I want to read, something different”. This story is and it has enough staying power to hold you through the entire story. I found whenever I got busy doing something, somewhere in the back of my mind. I wondered what happened to this character or that.
I found the ending very satisfying.

Since this review was originally posted the author has revised the story

We should use our unique human intelligence to solve challenges we face, and never give up or tell ourselves there’s no hope. If we have a positive goal and we’re well-motivated to seek the well-being of others, no matter how difficult it is to achieve, we can remain determined.
Next to both Anthrocon and MFF… Megaplex is the 3rd most mentioned fur con I see on social media. Obviously if your traveling from out of the Orlando area you will be preregistering as that is the easiest. Which is a good thing considering Megaplex recent announcement.
This is a reminder about Megaplex 2021 – there is NO onsite registration this year! Please make sure to pre-register for the con as we only have a maximum number of 2500 attendees for this year! Visit https://megaplex.regfox.com/megaplex-2021 to pre-reg today!
In addition they have a mask rule
As many locations in the United States are updating or removing their mask requirements we felt that it was time to expand on our mask policy. As we have previously mentioned masks have been shown to be the first line of defense during this pandemic. With people coming from all over the nation we continue to feel that it is the right choice to continue to require masks to be worn inside the convention space at all times, in all areas such as Panel rooms, Main Ballroom, Registration Areas, Dealer Den, Zoo, dances and all pre-function hallways. The following are very limited exceptions to this policy, and only apply to those that have been fully vaccinated. Otherwise unvaccinated individuals need to wear masks with no exception.
A) During load in / Load out and set up of major event areas (Main ball room and dealer power and registration setups most notably). These areas are closed to the general convention public, and the only ones in these areas are staff with plenty of distance between them. This is mostly for safety, since verbal commands and instructions need to comprehensible.
B) Panelists / Performers. These people are distanced far away from the audience, well beyond the safety ranges for social distancing requirements. This again is for comprehension, since some attendees with hearing limitations may need the ability to lip read, or may have comprehension restrictions with mask muffled speech.
C) Fursuiters with head on. This is for a concern of heat safety while actively wearing fursuit head. Sweat will cause masks to saturate with moisture, making an already hot situation even worse with a breathing limitation of breathing through a saturated wet cloth. Fursuiters should carry their mask with them at all times, so that if they take their head off in any areas, including the headless lounge, they must immediately put the mask on. Fursuiters not wearing a mask inside head should keep 6 feet away from other attendees. (ie no hugs)
D) Masks may be removed if actively eating or drinking, however you must remain stationary. You may stop, sit at a table/chair/floor and eat or drink food that was purchased from the hotel. Masks may also be removed for the Sponsor/Staff Dinners.
E) Areas outside of Megaplex’s convention space will default to the hotel’s overall policy, as those areas are not enforceable by Megaplex. Those areas include all the outside walkways, pool, lodge buildings and main lobby. Anyone that violates the hotel’s policy may be forced to leave the hotel, and Megaplex will not offer any refunds for anyone that is ejected for violating a hotel policy. The latest COVID updates from the hotel can be found on the Hotel and COVID-19 Update page.
So if your going please be aware of this.
