After seeing an ad for Biggest Little Fur Con, it got me thinking when is it too close to make plans to go to a fur con. In BLFCs case it’s next weekend. Surprising most cons don’t have a limit only a date and time when Pre Reg closes. But check their site first, to make sure.
Going to a Fur Con at the last minute your left with 2 HUGE ISSUES.
#1 and most importantly a room, I put this over getting a badge for a good reason. Smaller cons you may not have a problem with BIGGER ONES… OH BROTHER
From I seen first hand at MFF. Someone literally trying to check in the Main hotel after the con already started. I swear this happens every year.
I even met 1 fur who got a room in downtown Chicago and had to take the subway to the con. I know downtown is a bit extreme, but it happens.
The closer to the date the close rooms are vanishing. Also really don’t count on being someone’s last minute roommate.
Also every year I see social media posts of someone not being able to find a room period.
#2 Badge almost too simple check Their site and see how they are handling Pre Reg. A few have gone Pre Reg Only. Or worse SOLD OUT.
I put myself in this mix. All because of a friend, who wants to go to Fur Squared. But their cash is tight, I know the con is roughly 4 months away. The hotel we hope to stay still has rooms. Beyond that I am still thinking the odds of us going as 50/50
I decided that my 2028 small con will be Fur Squared no matter what. So what will happen next year ?
