Since my last post I have now gotten my badge via pre reg for Fur Squared. To be honest a con I have been wanting to see for over 10 years. But couldn’t for various reasons. So I decided to make things easy for myself my Fur Squared my only other con, except for maybe a local anime, and MFF for 2025. So I can go to a Vintage Computer con that a friend knows I am missing this year.

That is where my problems started. 1st I have Furry Migration, which I leave for in just over a week. Next was MFF, all set on that end. Which leaves Fur Squared, I kinda blew my budget to get a Super Sponsor badge. But I did get a good deal on the room…

All totaled I spent around $700 on Fur Squared alone.

But I can answer a question.

I forgot to mention at least in 2023 IFC checked your ID with a list of names. I hope they fixed that.

So I have 3 cons in the waiting.

One last thing I submitted a panel for Fur Squared, Streetpass we will see if they gets approved.

I have been following IFC on social media and everything seems to be going right.

Here I was talking with an artist about a possible commission when all of a sudden… MFF Opened Reg, early I know, by about a month. So that made me having in addition to my Furry Migration Pre Reg, I now had 1 for MFF, and then (Insert fanfare) Fur Squared announced it was opening Reg Today. BTW that’s 4 months earlier than last year. Although I really never made this official, I am planning on going to Fur Squared next year. The distance from the hotel and in fact is is walk-able from the train station. Really convinced me to go.

Did you know traveling by train between Chicago and Milwaukee only takes 90 minutes. My commute is longer at times.

If your keeping track that makes 3 when I buy it. I know all cons handle things differently.

MFF usually emails you a QR code about a month before.

Furry Migration sent me a QR code the moment the payment went through.

What Fur Squared will do, I’ll find out later today when they update their site.

Hadn’t told @StreetPassLove on X, just yet, but I might hold another Streetpass Meet at Fur Squared and I might make it an Official Panel. At least put in an application for it. So why not like the one I plan for FM? The layout of the hotel is different, and I found out the con is spread out over 3 floors. It would make things too complicated.

As for my future plans?

I would still love to do Mephit FurMeet, and possibly Gateway Furmeet. After that I might go to IFC again. Turns out all the problems I saw at the hotel and now fixed. Also I know where the Waffle House is located and where I can buy Arizona Ice Tea.

Once again, to me it feels more like the 100th time Fur Affinity has gotten not only a DNS, but the site has been hacked and their is a virus warning.

All at the same time some are mourning Dragoneer.

FA getting hack at one time more common that a college student eating ramen. I really wish I was making that up. But it is true, back when I wanted to set up an account to promote this site. It seemed like every day it was getting hacked again and again.

I really don’t understand why so many are upset. I really expect this, since the focus has been on FA and sadly what happened to Dragoneer. Which in case you had not heard was in fact cancer.

If you been around here for a while, you will recall I lost my own brother to cancer, and cancer is a bitch.

Sometimes that is what life is, it hits you will multiple sources of bad news.

This year was sorta an experiment for me. I got Peacock pacifically so I can watch what event I want, when I want to watch it. That I have to say worked out great.

What is even better is the ever growing number who won their country’s 1st ever medal. I could post a list but I would be missing a few. I am smiling as I type this.

Oh sure the USA has the most medals, but…. we are not dominating events like we use to. Track and Field it was so nice to see that female running from Saint Lucia not only getting the Gold, but her country’s first.

Saying she was happy is such an understatement. The same can be said for so many.

But I think the biggest surprise for me personally is watching a lot of events for the very 1st time. I love the Kayak events, and Bad mitten is insane.

The Olympics have been so much damn fun.

I am posting this as a just in case I have issues until this is solved.

My problems began when Google decided to get out of the domain biz. As you can assume I have been paying Google for my domain. Now they transferred my domain to SquareSpace, but it hasn’t gone well, mainly because they assume I have email forwarding… which I don’t. And all their instructions are all tied around this. I get the logic it is to make sure my site is mine.

So a friend suggested another company, which I won’t name until later. I called them and it turns out they don’t care if I have email forwarding or not. They can move my domain to one of their servers. BUT… there is a problem. Since I updated some info on SquareSpace, I can’t shift domain servers until September. They also advised stay away from their server as any change can effect the date.

So if anything happens, you will know,

Here it is me getting back home a little over a week ago, when a lot happened this week that has effected my plans. First of all I finally snared a room for a friend and myself for MFF. I know that isn’t what your expecting.

What really happened was this I was planning on going to Mephit Fur Meet. But due to circumstances, I can’t go and currently there are no rooms available at the main hotel. The reason that is an issue, it is the only one with a shuttle bus and I don’t drive.

So they are out Now What?!!!

Then steps in Furry Migration whose Reg and Hotel Block recently opened. Getting there frankly is zero issue. I’ll know by next weekend if I can actually go. Basically same plan as IFC, 10 videos minimum. Plus full coverage.

Never been to Minnesota before.

I know I should of posted this yesterday… but I was just too tired and could not think of anything worth posting.

So looking back it was really a great trip and I got some amazing photos. LA was so much fun, and I met my 1st cousin once removed if Google is right. They were the adult son of my cousin’s. Really am amazing guy, wasn’t sure if was furry… you see into IT.

Best place I went: Ripley’s Odditoruim beyond fantastic

Complete waste of money: The Oscar’s Museum, few costumes and a sky deck that is worth checking out.

The Most Jaw Dropping Moment: Getty Villa, it’s mind blowing.

I know I did more, just still too tired to think about it.

So will I be back? As for my cousins they gave an excuse of age, but I told them nothing was ever set in stone. If I did I would stay in a hostel, private room. Get a Tap card (the local fare card) and travel around.

I might do this again when the California Science Center finishes it expansion. I didn’t mention it is next to the LA Memorial Coliseum, and Exposition Park is a neighborhood in the south region of Los Angeles, California. It is home to Exposition Park, which includes the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, BMO Stadium, Exposition Rose Garden and three museums: the California African American Museum, the California Science Center and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. It is also home to a Science Center Academy.

It is a lot to take in.

Today is finally the day I start my 43 hour trip to LA. That is essentially 2 nights on the same train. At journeys end I am going to meet my cousins. All the while keeping them and those who are close to me, a clue what is happening, this is going to be tricky. For those who never taken a long haul journey on a train. It means there will be hours where I will have zero service on my cellphone. I brought books, movies and games to keep myself busy.

I kind of know what to expect, due to a journey to Washington DC a few years ago. The Dining Car will be a new experience.

In addition I put my Host app on my phone. What I will be posting and when is still a good question. So there will be times you check and nothing new. I have to wait to I get a signal. Saturday I hope I can use my laptop to give you a better idea what is going on… but we have to see.

All I can say what happens, I will be reporting. I know I leave a lot of questions. They are the same ones I am asking myself over and over again.

But please keep in mind this is the very 1st time we ever met, and I will admit I am nervous because of this.

I know this almost seems like an April Fools joke, but the following is real.

I know this shouldn’t be a big deal, after all we all do it. But not me, I have not made a secret out of this, but this will be the 1st time I am meeting what’s left of my father’s side of my family.

Why is this, my father died when I was quite young. Frankly I don’t remember much about him.

It has only been recently through therapy I am figuring out who I am, and what I want to do with my life. Which included a DNA test to find relatives.

California on the other hand has always been to me as if I am facing my own demons. You see my mother was so screwed up she was passing bad checks and rather live on the streets before asking relatives for help.

Yes I was homeless, for a time in California. I consider it a miracle I survived and made it to how old I am now.

I still have a lot of questions about my cousins and I am sure they despite how much we have talked, that they have to same for me.

What can I say, I am nervous and have a bit of anxiety over the trip.

Without revealing too many details. I leave the afternoon of April 17, and return to Chicago around the same time (fingers crossed) on April 26.

Apparently my relatives like museums as much as me and we plan on seeing quite a few which I hope to talk about.

I hope to get a photo of me on the beach of Malibu during this as a special memento.

I have to keep my cousin’s names a secret. They don’t know about my blog and I have no desire to tell them about it or other details. Also I don’t want a hotel bill after this.

I really just hope I enjoy myself, my cousins if they are as nice as they seem, if your expecting more. This is it… more on April 17.

In the meantime I will continue to post updates. But please be aware unless my cousins give me access to their WIFI my choices are limited.
