Could FWA Be Another Rainfurrest

It was because of reaction on social media of events that taken place at FWA 2018 that I decided to repost my article on Rainfurrest 2015. All I can say to those who made light of that couple on the floor of the lobby…Do You Want This?!!!

Because I had previous issues with this subject I wanted to let everyone know this article is based upon multiple sources including Facebook, Twitter and several furry forums, as well what other furries told me directly at both furmeets and while at MFF. Anyone claiming this article is taken from somewhere, I suggest you see a psychiatrist as there is something wrong with you. Because it’s wrong to take credit for other people’s observations.

This is an accounting of events that took place not at a fur con but at a place filled where no one cared about literally anything.

Staff apathy is what really killed Rainfurrest. No one cared what anyone did, despite the countless complaints. Reports of con goers walking around diapers, yes there were reports of crinkling, yes that is as nasty as it sounds. Then leaving those dirty diapers in the hallway, outside the hotel and on the cars in the hotel’s parking lot. Sex acts taking place both the pool and the indoor fountain. Not to forget public nudity in the hallways, reports of assault, sexual assault, drug use and drug sales as well as public intoxication. Take your pick drugs or alcohol. There were several arrests made.

Speaking of which and I saw this on the NBC News of how minors were served alcohol in the panels causing more than 1 to be rushed to the hospital with alcohol poisoning. This happened at least 3 times according to that report.

Then there are the dozens of reports of no one checking badges. I even heard of a party of 6. Only 1 ever bought a badge and all of them did pretty much the same thing at the con. Did I mention no one checked.

But when the con staff actually checked for badges it seems they were also open to bribes. $5 per was the going rate. Some just took a $1, and at the end of the day this one guard boasted they raked in $100s

Then there is the incident that happened at the hotel. Where the jets in the hot tub was blocked with towels. The same could be said about the motor, which then ripped itself apart causing major damage. To the reason why, sex. It seems that someone played plumber and decided pull what seems to be a practical joke when they loosened the connections on the water pipe that was connected to the toilet, it seemed to be okay but when they next person flushed then all hell would break loose. Despite the best efforts of a plumber the hotel called in, they couldn’t stop the damage not only to that rest room, but neighboring rooms as well, including the server on the floor below, which was damaged beyond repair. Then there is what happened in the elevator, rumor has it these 2 wanted to make out there so they stopped the elevator. Not liking the alarm noise it was making decided to do something about it. Rumor has it they were the same people who caused the water damage. All total it was about $10,000 in total damages.

Despite what has been publically stated by the Rainfurrest staff. They had to be stoned when they walked into the manager’s office with high hopes of a contract renew. You see the manager had gotten all the complaints that the staff refused to deal with. I heard from at least 4 eyewitnesses who heard the manager shouting at the con staff. The word “Dickheads”, which was used multiple times.

If you think I am focusing on the staff too much, blaming them for the reason the con is no longer around and the word Rainfurrest make the staff at any fur con cringe. Look no further than the closing ceremony video. I swear you can see them passing around something. In addition to giving themselves awards for doing such a good job. This is despite one of them saying they had to clear those out of the room with no badges. I even heard of an attempted sex act on the same stage just before the event. It was only stopped because they needed the space to set up.

They also sold what maybe Rainfurrest greatest legacy. A poster for next year’s con was sold by auction and the money was supposed to be used for finding a new location. Since I got reminded of the law. Let me pass along something to the former staff, especially one who took the cash. Using that money except for finding a new location, unless given to charity can be considered FRAUD.

As far as I know this is the most accurate account of what happened. In my opinion Rainfurrest self imploded.

Some of you might doubt me, check out the video by the Internet Historian he backs up many of my points.

Call this what this is rumor time, it seem at MFF that year, a couple of con goers told me that the ones who caused the damage at Rainfurrest tried to get in. Both to the hotel and the con, this was when I found out they have a lifetime ban at most cons and hotels. The rumor says they were forced to leave because both threaten to call the Police.

Rainfurrest: 2 Years Later

Really I don’t know what started all this talk about Rainfurrest. Especially why it’s no longer a con, I wrote an article last year for my blog on the disaster that it was. At least 60% of what I wrote was verified by a former board member in a post they made on another site. I have to be careful about posting that link, I was given a C&D for even talking about it.

Then there are those on Twitter who called that post “A good piece of fiction”. But still everything I saw them post, was barely 1% of the real story. Which I seriously doubt any former staff member will admit the truth about what really happened there, “That everyone screwed up royally”. Reminded me a lot about why Trump was elected.

I fully admit that I liberally borrowed that post from that RF board member which eventually lead to that C&D. But when you constantly get turned down for even a comment from every former RF staff member I even attempted to contact. I felt it was time to tell the whole story. The 100% TRUTH, who knew it would mean by blog would get spammed attacked by 2000 spams in less than 1 hour. A small portion wound up on the Greymuzzle group I mod on G+ that were filled with hate messages which I don’t even dare to repeat. I still believe to this day that the former RF board member and the site their story was posted on had something to do with the attack. I have since been told, to make those hate message look as if they were posted by me. Took someone with HTML training in other words a Webmaster. Thankfully the members of that group knew those posts weren’t from me, for all they did do is wonder why it happened, which I did tell them.

Look I am not constantly online, I do that by choice. But did I deserve actual Death Threats, for not taking down what I posted right away. No, I would of gotten around to it eventually…which is what I did.

Then there is that C&D which got me to take down what I posted. It also bans from from posting a link to that former Board Members side of the story. Interesting as this was happening they deny that I found the story on a Google search. Check for yourself, type in “Rainfurrest 2015” in the search box and look for an article that uses the words Post Mortem. That is how I found it, and even checked last night it still was there.

So what do I think after all of this. The Con Goers can’t believe everyone screwed up as bad as they did. The staff tones it down to a point where they make it looks like a misunderstanding. Then there is what I heard from a hotel staff member at MFF, it seems those who caused a lot of the problems at Rainfurrest are banned from cons, as well as the hotel. In fact one had a reservation at the Hyatt Regency and was refused a room.

So I stand behind my original post, the one that is on my blog right now. Which is solely based upon what I heard from various sources. Although it may not be 100% accurate but it is as accurate as anyone will admit to currently.
I want everyone to know I hold not hate against any former RF staff member, save 1 for what happened. Call this an open invite for anyone who was at RF 2015 to go on record to say what they saw 1st hand. My thoughts are no one will be willing…but we will have to see.

Update it seems all the talk about Rainfurrest came from the following post https://www.rainfurrest.org/2017/ it seems officially Rainfurrest is dead. Speaking of Officially they claimed in a previous post on their site that any venue they wanted to Hire wanted a $250,000 insurance bond. I have a friend who is in the hotel industry and they tell me it’s more like $500,000. Once again they lie to protect their asses.

The Reality of My Actions

Looking into something where some don’t want you to go. Can be a real gamble take that mess I got into when I reposted that article, and everything went nuts. It took me a while to realize that it wasn’t the reposting that made them so angry at me. It was me telling what really happened at Rainfurrest, I have since seen 3 articles written by former board members all of them playing down what really happened there. Some have actually gone on social media claiming I lied about how bad it really was. I can can’t blame them for saying that, because no one wants to look like a asshole. Screwing up so royally that I doubt there will be a furcon on the US NW in a really long time.

Rainfurrest Board Members will Never Admit the Truth

I was checking out a few sites today to see what I could post. When I came across this article it was mentioned on Flayrah.com It was an interview with a former Rainfurrest Board Member Gene Armstrong THE ARTICLE Given my recent experiences with former board members of Rainfurrest. The only thing I will mention about the article it was to dispel the myths about furries coming from a former Rainfurrest Board Member. Who only blamed the 1% of the trouble makers for why the con closed. You notice I said closed instead of imploded The Truth can be found HERE Yet another board member who refuses to say the truth that they totally screwed up. That he and other board member are at least 80% responsible for what happened. Anyone who ever saw any of the closing ceremony vids from that year can clearly see that. And despite all their hopes otherwise Rainfurrest is DEAD. That no hotel in the NW will even think about hosting a furcon, and if they do they want a $250,000 bond in case of any damages. Since no organization can come up with a huge amount I really don’t see any new furcons in that region in the foreseeable future.

Rainfurrest 2015 It’s Legacy

With Rainfurrest now becoming the most infamous con in HISTORY. Proving the old saying if something can go wrong, it will. There isn’t a single con in the entire world that did not take the events that happened there as a wake up call. The one time I was at a Midwest Furfest Board meeting I heard them say, when Rainfurrest imploded they had an emergency meeting. They had no choice but to rethink on how their con was operated. They worked with their hotel resolving any issues. The biggest was a direct line to the Con’s Chairperson if anything happened and the staff didn’t immediately take care of it. It seems they would take direct responsibility to see it was solved.

The biggest change I personally saw at MFF later that same year was an increased number of staff. Tighter rules on conduct, and have you noticed the agreement you have to sign in order to get a badge. If you haven’t it is in reality a code of conduct contract. A legally binding contract. But the unsung heros to this are the furries themselves. Oh sure there is always drinking, and always sex. But the con goers themselves make 100% sure nothing gets out of control. I maybe quoting MFF, but I heard this at other cons, even ones that aren’t furry. For example at this one con, (I will not say which) this couple got into a bad fight. It was the con goers themselves who not only contacted the hotel, but called the cops into make an arrest.

Speaking of badges, everyone checks badges these days. At MFF there are those keeping watch to make sure badges are checked.

Was what happened at Rainfurrest really a good thing? In a way yes, I know that may surprise a few. Look none of us wants are favorite con to implode. But happened at Rainfurrest is a constant reminder of what could happen, if we stopped caring.
