Ralph Bakshi is an amazing talent, he made Fritz the Cat (1972), Heavy Traffic (1973), Wizards (1977), The Lord of the Rings (1978), American Pop (1981), Cool World (1992) etc.
His version of Lord of the Rings is highly underrated in my opinion. I know a lot say the the first mainstream furry film was Disney’s Robin Hood, but Fritz The Cat predates it by a year, and it’s more for adults. Which can be said of all of films. Now Wizards if you hadn’t seen it, shows the true side of war more so than the recent 1917 film. People die and sometimes reasons to start a war is based on ego, rather than any real threat.
Frankly all of his films are worth checking out.
Speaking of which Ralph Bakshi was also involved in a bit of controversy with Mighty Mouse, which ran from 1987 to 1988. You see he was contracted to do Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures and the episodes are great.
It was doing well ratings wise until this.

Just like the world-renowned and influential Zagreb School of Animation authors, Bakshi was conditioned by modest budgets and had to resort to experimentation and reduced animation. Success came. Artistic freedom was not conditioned. This is a lifetime achievement award. Zagreb understands.
