Letter from the Con Chair
When I took over as chairman, I never thought this would be a letter I would have to write. The last few months have been hard on everyone. Many in our fandom and around the world are dealing with the loss of their jobs and for some having to say goodbye to loved ones for the last time due to COVID-19. Furry Conventions have been rescheduled or outright canceled for this year one after another after another. It is with a very deep sadness that I must announce that Megaplex 2020 is to be added to the list of cons canceled for 2020.
In the spirit of transparency, this has been a long and difficult decision not just for me but for the entire board of directors. Questions like “Could we do enough to keep our attendees safe?”, “Could we still provide the experience our attendees have come to expect?”, and yes even “Could/Would enough people attend in order to be able to afford the event let alone future events?”. The board held an emergency meeting to discuss our options and determined that if we wanted to be able to offer full refunds to our attendees as well as continue operation to be able to hold future events, we could not put off the decision any further. We came to the conclusion that even if we could do enough to keep the virus at bay it would massively affect the convention experience and it would be very possible that only a third of our planned attendance would be willing or able to attend.
We love each and every one of our attendees and will be offering the ability to donate your registration fee to Megaplex, transfer your registration to next year, or to request a full refund for those whose credit/debit cards were charges this year. We hope you will at least consider donating your registration fee though we understand that may not be an option for many. We still have operating costs we need to cover for this year as well as fees associated with each registration that we do not feel would be right to deduct from everyone’s refunds.
All is not lost, we are looking into the possibility of hosting an online convention which those who donate or transfer their registration would have free access to. More details will be released on this if we are able to do it as they become available.
Additional information as well as the form to designate how we shall handle your registration can be found at https://megaplexcon.org/COVID19. We kindly ask that questions regarding the cancellation be directed at the resources listed on that page as opposed to reaching out to staff members. This cancellation is especially rough on our staff as they have put in countless hours to work through all of the issues to bring you this years convention.
Sincerely,
Scooby
Megaplex Chairman
Mephit Fur Meet Moved to 2021

Brasil FurFest moved to 2021
Brasil FurFest 2020 to be postponed to 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the postponement of Brasil FurFest 2020 to 2021. The change is due to the current situation imposed by the Novel Coronavirus pandemic.
It is a very difficult decision, since all planning made by us and many attendees will have to be changed and this will cause discomfort for all of us. However, we need to take into account the safety and health of everyone involved in the event, and given the current situation we have no choice but to postpone Brasil FurFest.
When and where will Brasil FurFest 2021 be held?
The event will take place from July 16th to 18th at the Mercure Hotel, in Santos, SP, Brazil.
Will the theme A Haunted Hotel be kept?
Yes, the theme will be the same.
And is Uncle Kage still a guest of honor?
Yes, his coming is confirmed for 2021.
What happens now?
We are working on a system for our website so that attendees have the option to keep their registration for 2021 or request a full refund of the amount paid. The information will be released in the coming weeks.
We ask all attendees to consider keeping the registration for 2021, given that BFF has already spent part of the budget and a wave of requests for reimbursement can affect the event finances gravely.
When will I be able to choose to keep enrollment or refund?
In the coming weeks we will bring you more information about keeping your registrations or requesting a refund.
Always stay tuned on our website (brasilfurfest.com.br/en), social networks or the telegram ad channel (t.me/brasilfurfest).
How will the refund work?
Refund rules will also be announced in the coming weeks. We ask atendees NOT to open a dispute or request chargebacks through PayPal. Refunds will be made, but the request made directly to PayPal harms Brasil FurFest relationship with the payment methods and can lead to the permanent closure of our accounts on their sites.
Once again we ask you to consider keeping tickets for 2021 as a way to help BFF both in financial terms and in the joy of receiving all the furries for yet another big party!
I still hadn’t bought the ticket.
The sale of tickets for BFF will resume in January 3rd, 2021. The values are already available on our website.
Should I cancel my reservation or can I keep it for 2021? What should I do?
You must cancel your reservations as the event has been postponed.
If your reservation is at Mercure Hotel, you must cancel or transfer your reservation to 2021 (with the same rates from 2020*) through the email h6314-re@accor.com.br .
If your reservation is at Ibis Hotel, you must cancel or transfer your reservation to 2021 by e-mail h5530-re@accor.com.br .
*The special convention rate is only valid at the Mercure for 2 or 3 guests rooms.
Why not postpone Brasil FurFest to a date still in 2020?
We prefer to take the event to 2021 avoid another postponement.
We also believe that the post-pandemic economic situation may be difficult for everyone.
By postponing the event in a year we will have more time and we hope everything has returned to normal.
Too bad we won’t have BFF this year. I want to help in some way…
You can help by posting photos and videos about BFF on social media with #brasilfurfest.

FurryEST which is a furry camping events that takes place in July in Estonia cancelled this years gathering.

I will go on record unlike other sites and say I honestly missed this one MCFC which takes place normally in July while in Southfield, MI USA back in the 1st week of April obviously cancelled.
On MCFC they posted the following statement from Con Chair Keet Collie
Hello everybody, my name is Keet. I am the convention chairman for Motor City Furry Con. Today I would like to have a frank discussion with you about the prospects of running the con this year. I personally do not believe in sugar-coating anything or coming up with flowery words. I would like to give everyone this information as straightforward and honestly as possible. Over the last month, both myself and the board of directors for the convention have been investigating the option of running MCFC during the fall of 2020. As many of you may know, there are a number of factors which would affect the
decision to run the event this year. Those factors include, but are not limited to, the hotel’s capacity to accommodate us, our staff’s ability to adjust to the new dates, and our attendees’ ability to come to the convention, given the high rate of unemployment and loss of income and P.T.O. All of these affect the financial ability of our convention to operate. We have taken these factors into account, and though our hotel is willing to work with us and our staff is more than capable to move to new dates, with the current uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have decided it would not be a prudent decision to run the event this year. Although we would like nothing more than to put on this event later in the year,
we feel, as a board, that it is in the best interest of the con and our attendees to postpone until 2021. We do not take this decision lightly and it saddens us greatly to have to postpone MCFC until 2021, but it feels like the right decision for everyone involved. We also felt it was prudent to not scramble to try to run an event later on in the year, as there are many already planned and established events running in that timeframe. We would like to not have a negative impact on other conventions, and we encourage you to support them during this unprecedented time. Additionally, as many of you may understand,
there are a certain number of fixed costs involved with running an event which cannot be reduced. We felt it is better to not cut other costs and provide a sub-par event in 2020, with the possibility of damaging our ability to run the event in future years. Our intention is to postpone the convention to 2021, when we can hit the ground running to give you the best event we possibly can. Please take heart in the fact that MCFC is in a good financial and staffing position to continue on after this setback. We look forward to welcoming you back next year. I know this is a great disappointment to all of you and to a great number of our staff, and I appreciate your understanding in this matter. If you have any
questions or comments, please feel free to email us at question@motorcityfurrycon.org.
