Texas Furry Fiesta Responds to Hate

The following is an open letter posted on Texas Furry Fiesta’s site responding to the hate we see seemly everywhere.

Dear Furries,

We are shocked and saddened by the violence and hateful rhetoric centered around recent events in our nation. We condemn this violence and malice in the strongest possible terms.

Today we join a growing chorus that speaks out against racism, intolerance, bigotry, and hatred. These things have no place in our community or at our conventions. We stand together with those who oppose the violent rhetoric growing in our country and our community. Together we are stronger than hate. Together we stand as a light in the darkness of these troubling times.

In times when the world seems to be consumed by hatred, remember that the furry fandom is a community that cares for and embraces each other. We come together to meet and share our lives regardless of color, creed, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, or nationality. We are brought together by a mutual interest, but our community is bound together by our love.

We say this clearly:

There is no place at Furry Fiesta or Furry Siesta for racism, intolerance, bigotry, or hatred.

We will not permit hateful speech, acts, propaganda, or the symbols of those who advocate them at our events. We have always sought to create an environment fostering inclusivity and tolerance. Anyone engaging in harassment or intimidation at our events will be removed. The furry fandom is one of the strongest, most welcoming and accepting communities on Earth. Together we have built something amazing and beautiful. We invite you to join us in continuing to forge a bright future filled with joy, laughter, and love.
